06:58 pm - Unfilmed scripts

Previous Entry Share

I'm rewatching Crusade, which is always a bitter-sweet thing to do. On the one hand, Crusade rules - on the other hand I get depressed it got cancelled.

And in re-watching, I'm going around re-reading stuff, which is also a bitter-sweet experience. Because while I've just tracked down and ordered the technomage trilogy via Abebooks.com, there is one thing I can't get a hold of. And that's the unfilmed scripts.

Now... I'm a librarian. Which means that lost information (that is: information that is inaccessible to the general public) bugs me. In a massive way. And that's what's happened to those scripts. They were accessible for a brief time on-line - and good for the ones who noticed that and had access to the internet at that time - but that's it. They are no longer available on-line. They were never published (at least, not that I know of), and JMS has expressed his wishes they aren't spread around. Which, you know, essentially means that those of us who are late to the party have absolutely no chance.

I'd buy them, if I could. I'd borrow them, if I could. But I can't. I can just sit here and wonder what all the fuss is about.

Did I mention that that bugs me?

Such a guy would need an email contact, such as, theoretically, sending an email to aristgd at gmail dotcom. *grin*

I see someone's already answered you questions with the scripts, so I don't have to worry about that. :) Although it should be noted he's said he might do a script volume or two for Crusade just as he has been for B5, and I imagine those would be in it.

But what you're describing is actually something that bothers me vastly about the pulled commentary for the DVD series. I understand and agree with JMS's reasons for doing so--I would have too--but I can't help but be upset that he never offered the substance of what was in there anywhere online. A summary, an outline, and interpretive dance, something. But all my searchings have ever pulled up are notices about him yanking the commentary, and as a result, it feels kind of like the fans are being punished for something Warner Brothers did.
